Line-up

Turn Back, the band's third studio album, was a return to a classic sextet structure, and a more consistent, stronger effort that had a more grittier edge. The more edgier sound of Turn Back was a reflection of the growth of the band. Bobby Kimball's growing proficiency was evident in the vocals of Joseph Williams, who had become more confident and mature. David Paich's work was more precise, sharper, and less derivative than on previous performances.

After touring to promote the album, the group recorded a live concert in Amsterdam which was released as a set of two CDs entitled Falling In Between Live on Eagle Records.
