A poison ball that hits a stake or passes through any wicket (possibly through the action of a non-poison player) is eliminated. The general rules of pool apply to eight-ball, such as the requirements that the cue ball not be pocketed and that a cushion be hit by any of the balls after the cue ball has struck an object ball. The majority of the balls are red, and there is a small selection of colored balls and the cue ball. A less common scratch rule dictates that the shot be taken from the side of the table in which the ball was scratched. Another potential consequence of a scratch is being restricted to positioning the cue ball "behind the head string." The head string is an imaginary line dividing the table, and being behind it means that the cue ball must be placed or shot from the specific area nearest the end where the game began. All that being said, felt color may not necessarily have a direct impact on your game - again, it’s mostly subjective.
