iRobot Combo Review

Combo is the first mop-and-vacuum robot, and is the most attractive model of the company. Its aluminum top piece brushed and iRobot logo are more elegant than the loud designs of competitors.

You use the irobot robot vacuum Home app to set up and guide your robot. The app collects data on usage and maps of your home including furniture and obstacles. Maps and image information are only shared with you if you have signed up.

It's not a mop

The Combo irobot is a very intelligent mopping robot that has all the advantages of the fantastic Roomba J7+ and includes an onboard water reservoir, a tiny mopping pad, and a clever robot arm that lifts and lowers the pad. It can accomplish a good amount of work in only 11 minutes, and then runs out of power and returns to its base station to recharge.

The model that comes with the iRobot Home app, so you can begin or stop cleaning runs. The robot is also stylish with its matte black finish that doesn't show fingerprints or dust and a brushed aluminum top piece with the tiny irobot roomba logo.

It is a fantastic tool of vacuuming and has no problem traversing over large area rugs or transition strips between flooring surfaces. It's even able to capture fine dust that other robotic vacuums miss. It's not very good in mowing. It can't obliterate dried milk stains, for instance unless you've sent it out at least four or five times.

IRobot's own Braava Jet M6 mopping robot, which is available as a bundle with the j7 Plus often for less than the combination Combo and performs much better in this and other difficult tasks. It can even clean up wine and ketchup spills, but I would not recommend it to be used after any liquids with a high amount of sugar.

It's a vacuum

It's also among the better-looking robot vacuums, with a smooth top piece that doesn't show dust or fingerprints as easily as competitors. Its tiny water tank and dustbin are easy to open and close but they're not the best buy roomba vacuum in terms of capacity. The Combo J7+ comes with all the features you'd expect from irobot black friday. This includes maps and obstacle avoidance maps that operate efficiently and quickly. But it's mopping arms that makes this model stand out in its class. It keeps the mop pad hidden behind the vacuum, but if it recognizes an area that requires mopping it lowers the pad underneath and behind the robot. This is a significant improvement over other robot vacuums that require you to manually remove the mop pad for carpets and hard floors, or even turn the whole unit off for mopping.

It's an electric charging station.

When you're ready to charge your Combo irobot, just place it on the changing station and align its metal contacts with those on the base. The charging station works well and is simple to set up. During my testing it took just a few minutes for the robot's to start charging and make a sound when it was finished. Once the Combo irobot mop and vacuum combo is fully charged, you can begin a mapping run in the app to help it better understand your home. The app allows you to mark certain objects as permanent avoidances, such as lamp cords. You can also connect your robot to Alexa or Google Assistant, so you can use voice commands to direct it around the home.

It's a smart device

Combo irobots use acoustic and onboard sensors to learn about the type of floor it's encountering as well as the objects in your home. This information is combined with images from the robot's onboard camera as well as maps of your home to create a customized plan to clean each room. This makes it smart enough to keep your lamp cords, sofas and other objects you want to keep intact. Of course, like any device that is connected there are questions about the privacy of this data. iRobot however, claims that it will not sell any customer data and that no images are taken without the permission of the customer.
